Although there are several Medicaid waivers in North Carolina, Team Daniel’s primary focus is CAP MR/DD services. The Team Daniel business model implements the principles of self-determination and focuses on the needs of the individual. The ability for families to hire their own staff and set wages has in most cases alleviated the stress of frequent staff turnover.

Team Daniel hires and trains all direct care staff selected by families in compliance with Department of Labor and Medicaid requirements.

Team Daniel handles payroll services in a timely manner and bills Medicaid according to services provided.

The Participant Operating Budget is developed for each individual served by Team Daniel. The Participant Operating Budget contains a line-item called the Participant Account. This account is a unique development that allows families to purchase additional equipment, services and supports to meet the needs of the participant without the enormous paperwork required by Medicaid. Families are able to purchase equipment denied by Medicaid but approved by therapists and physicians. Additional therapy and supports can also be obtained as outlined in the participant's Person Centered Plan.
